Dragon set to make Pune foray
PUNE: Hindi-Chini partnership seems to be the flavour of the season and Pune, not to be left out of the action, is all set to welcome its first Chinese company on Thursday.
In fact, Sany Heavy Industries Limited would be the first Chinese company to get the official nod from the Maharashtra government to set up base in the state.
While some of the proposed big-ticket investments by Chinese companies are hanging fire either due to security or technical reasons, Sany Heavy Industries, a leading construction machinery company in China and part of the $1 billion Sany Group, is readying to set up shop at Talegaon.
1x1 polls

Group chairman of Sany Group, Liang Wen Gen, is in Mumbai to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state government.
Industries secretary of Maharashtra, V.K. Jairath, is expected to sign the MoU on behalf of the state government.
"We will sign the MoU for a $60 million facility to manufacture trailer/truck mounted concrete pumps, transit concrete mixers and concrete batching plants,"said Dong Dong He, chief executive officer (Indian operations) of Sany Heavy Industries. The facility will employ 2,000 people in phases over the next four-five years, he added.

The company is looking for up to 40 acres for the facility, which will be ready for production in one-and-a-half years, he said.
The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has sanctioned Sany 20 hectares initially in the Talegaon MIDC area, close to the facility of JCB, the other big global construction machinery company.
The remaining land is expected to be allocated in the upcoming phase II of the Talegaon industrial area. The company has an India presence since December 2002, through its local subsidiary Sany Heavy Industry India Pvt Ltd.
The company has marketing and sales offices in all the metros and will end this year with a sales turnover of Rs 60 crore, more than twice its last year's turnover.
In fact, the company is about to set a national record by doing vertical concrete pumping to the top of the tallest building in India — the 215-metre-tall Imperial Building with 60-plus floors, being built at Juhu in Mumbai by Shapoorji Pallonji.
